UPDATE APRIL 1, 2020:
It is with deepest sadness that we inform you of our unprecedented plans to cancel the 2020 NJ Junior Thespian Festival at Toms River High School North. We know that the anticipation of our 2020 festival has brought joy into your lives. And, after an entire year of planning, our NJ Junior Thespian State Board is sad to share this news. Please understand that this ultimate decision was extremely difficult, and we all share in this tremendous uncertainty. It is not because of fear that we cancel, but with the hope that you will stay home and take care of yourself and your loved ones. Our NJ Junior Thespian State Board acknowledges that many schools reopening dates are still unconfirmed, and the possibility of delaying registration or postponing the festival is not an option. Ultimately, we feel that the safety and well-being of Junior Thespians across the state is of the utmost importance. That being said, NJ Junior Thespians is still committed to providing a place for students, teachers, and thespians to celebrate theatre on May 16, 2020. In place of our in-person festival, we will be offering a way to celebrate our festival from the comfort of your own living room. Thespians of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to participate. Stay tuned for scheduling and updates for our online offering on May 16. Stay healthy, well, and active. And, see you all at the theatre soon (virtually of course)!

Your safety is always our top priority. We are continuously monitoring COVID-19 in New Jersey and its impact on schools, travel, and gatherings. At the present time, all plans for the NJ Junior Thespian Festival on May 16, 2020, are moving ahead as scheduled. As of right now, we are still continuing with festival preparations, and registration will be extended to a later date in April. Our NJ Junior Thespian State Board is in ongoing communication with our host site, Toms River High School North and the Ocean County Health Department. Please continue to check the following websites for updates and further information: New Jersey Junior Thespians, Ocean County Health Department, New Jersey Department of Health and your local school district. Here is a list of online teaching resources compiled by NJ Thespians that you may find useful as well. Please feel free to reach out to njjrthespians@gmail.com with any concerns or questions. We hope that this information can assist you. And, we would also like to express our empathy if you are someone involved with a cancelled or postponed production. Thank you for all that you do in the theatre. Take care of yourself, your families, and your loved ones, and we hope to see you at the theatre soon.
